Leeds United have landed Eddie Lewis on a free transfer from Championship rivals Preston North End.
The United States international has signed a two-year contract at Elland Road after successfully passing a medical on Wednesday.
Lewis has opted to sever his ties with Preston, despite admitting after the club's play-off final defeat that he would
be willing to sign a new deal.
Sunderland had been linked with the winger but he has been persuaded to cross the Pennines by Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell.
He becomes Blackwell's fourth capture of the summer, although the deal is subject to Lewis receiving a work permit.
That should not be a problem for the 31-year-old, who will also earn an additional 12-month deal with The Whites if he
makes a specific number of appearances.
